Deep Dish Pizza

We all love pizza, right?  It's really the universal food.  The one meal that I can count on everyone loving. This deep dish delight is a really indulgent version of traditional pizza.  I promise, it's a breeze to make and so worth it!

Ingredients:
1 pkg store bought pizza dough
1/2 cup of marinara sauce (Alfredo would be good too!)
1 lb. of browned Italian sausage
1 bell pepper sliced thinly
1/2 onion sliced thinly
3 sliced of provolone cheese
1 cup of mozzarella cheese
1 small can of sliced olives
4 mushrooms thinly sliced
non-stick spray

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Brown your Italian sausage.  When that is cooked through, remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel lined plate.  Discard all but about 1 tbs of the grease from the sausage.  Saute the bell pepper and onion in the sausage drippings over medium heat until golden brown, about 10 minutes.

You can either use a cast iron skillet {here's a secret, I don't have one!  hint, hint ;-)} or a medium sized casserole dish.  Spray with a little non-stick spray if you use a casserole dish.  Roll out your dough on a lightly floured board.  When your dough is rolled out to about the same size as your dish, place it in the dish. Be sure that your dough is stretched up over the sides of the dish.

Start filling the pizza by spooning about 1/2 a cup of marinara sauce evenly over the bottom of the dough.  Place your sliced provolone over the sauce.  Fill with sausage, peppers and mozzarella cheese.  Top with the olives and mushrooms.

Place in the preheated oven.  It takes about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown on top.  Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing (or it sort of falls apart) and enjoy!

Seriously good, right?

This is what your dough should look like when you stretch it out to fit in your dish.
